Volunteers services are an integral part of the R2R hospice team
R2R volunteers support our patients through social visitation activities such as: reading, talking walks, writing letters. playing games, arts and crafts, bringing music of the patient’s choice, and even supervising therapeutic visits with pets.
We also provide respite and support for family members by assisting with shopping, light household maintenance, or even just allowing them the time they need to run errands. Volunteers are also beneficial for giving family members time alone while their loved one is still being cared for safely in the home. They can also help care for a family pet, if needed.
R2R bereavement support programs utilize our volunteers to work closely with our hospice’s bereavement staff. The duties may include assisting a support group facilitator by serving refreshments or helping with mailings to families.
Our R2R volunteers with clerical and administrative skills may be asked to serve our hospice by helping in the office for special events like vendor fairs and partnership events such as the Alzheimer’s Walk for a Cure.
